TO: Clinicians, Hospitals, Long Term Care Facilities
FROM: Dr. Gary Feldman, Public Health Officer
DATE: October 29, 2004
SUBJECT: Reallocation of Influenza Vaccine
The Department of Public Health is requesting that any unused influenza vaccine be submitted to Disease Control for reallocation to providers who have not been able to obtain vaccine for direct patient care for staff and/or high-risk patients.Although the department has made every effort to distribute influenza vaccine where it is needed most, the number of doses available is inadequate to meet the need in the community.
Adhering to the Public Health Order may decrease the number of eligible individuals each clinician will need to vaccinate. This would allow reallocation of vaccine.
If you have or anticipate having unused doses of influenza vaccine, please contact Karon Jones, RN, Immunization Coordinator at (951) 354-1410, or Tonya Geiger, RN, Assistant Director, Disease Control at (951) 354-1409 to coordinate vaccine pick-up. Arrangement may also be made by completing and faxing the attached form.
Thank you.
