HEALTH SCREENING FOR KATRINA EVACUEES

There have been a number of evacuees who have self-evacuated from the Gulf States who are beginning to present to local emergency departments, clinics, and other medical providers. The majority of these evacuees are not in dire need of medical attention but rather have nowhere else to get care for chronic medical problems and to obtain prescriptions.

The Riverside County Department of Public Health, in coordination with the American Red Cross and the Office of Emergency Services, has pre-established resources to aid with the integration of the evacuees.

If any evacuees present to your facilities, please complete a health screening form and return via fax to (951) 358-5348. If you have any questions, please call the EMS Agency at (951) 358-5029, or at (951) 782-2977 after hours or on the weekend.

Per the Office of Civil Rights, authorization for release of medical information is not required for medical information of evacuees of Katrina. Authorization forms should be collected, if possible, but are not required.
