Myth vs. Fact

Myth: The Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccine causes autism.
Fact: The MMR vaccine does not cause autism. Ongoing surveillance of all vaccines takes place to ensure vaccine safety.
Myth: Your child can not get an immunization when he/she has a cold.
Fact: An immunization will not hurt your child if he/she already has a cold, but it is not ok for your child to get an immunization when he/she has a fever.
Myth: Only children need immunizations to be ready for school every fall season.
Fact: Children, adolescents and adults need periodic immunizations to maintain a healthy immune system that can fight against vaccine preventable diseases.
