VAXTRACK IMMUNIZATION REGISTRY
Overview of VaxTrack
The VaxTrack Immunization Registry was established in Riverside County in July 2000. It is part of the California Statewide Immunization Information System (SIIS), which seeks to improve immunization rates for all California children through an innovative public-private partnership. Together we are working to develop an integrated, statewide computerized registry that eliminates missed opportunities and unnecessary duplicate immunizations, while ensuring that health care providers have rapid access to complete and up-to-date immunization records.
Benefits of Registry Participation
Health care providers who give immunizations are eligible to access the full immunization registry, while other qualified agencies (such as schools, child care providers, foster care providers, WIC, etc.) are eligible to access a limited (or “view-only”) version of VaxTrack. There are innumerable benefits to health care provider offices, other qualified agencies, and the parents and children who participate in VaxTrack. These benefits include:
- Instantly verifying immunizations that have been given without lengthy telephone calls or correspondence
- Forecasting the dates of future shots according to official immunization recommendations
- Identifying children who are due for immunizations and sending reminder notices to parents
- Printing up-to-date official immunization records quickly and easily
- Helping to prevent duplicate immunizations when a child’s immunization record has been lost or forgotten.
- Serving as a vital link in the public health preparedness structure for natural disasters and other emergencies. Click here for the article “Lessons Learned from Hurricane Katrina.”
